Questions about this service
Do you paint the wardrobes or leave them bare?
We can spray-finish them in our shop, hand-paint them on site using breathable trade paints, or leave them prepared for your own decorator.
How long does installation take inside the room?
A standard pair of alcove cabinets takes two to three days on site after our workshop preparation.
Can you handle chimney breasts that bow outwards?
Yes. We take templating strips directly off your chimney breast to ensure the back and side scribes sit flush without heavy mastic beads.
How We Carry Out Your Project
-
1
Room survey and timber selection
We visit your home to take physical measurements of out-of-square walls and choose timber species, board thickness, and hardware.
-
2
Workshop cutting and dry assembly
We mill every stile, rail, and shelf in our workshop, pre-drilling dowels or tenons to test the fit before bringing timber into your home.
-
3
On-site scribing and fixing
We bring the parts into your room, plane the face scribes to meet uneven plaster, anchor the frames securely, and hang doors.
-
4
Finishing and final adjustments
We ease the door gaps, wax drawer runners, fill fixing points, and leave the joinery vacuumed and ready for use.
Why Work With Camber & Mortar
Cut to your exact plaster lines
Old houses rarely have square corners, so we plane each face trim directly against your wall for zero gap.
Solid wood drawers and joints
We use traditional jointing rather than plastic brackets, so shelves stay rigid under heavy loads.
Low workshop disruption at home
Most heavy cutting and sanding happens in our workshop, keeping sawdust inside your home to an absolute minimum.

Words from Local Homeowners
The lime plaster in our dining room feels silky to the touch and has kept the damp air away entirely. Their carpenters scribed the oak bookcases directly to our leaning Victorian walls with pinpoint accuracy.
Alistair B., Richmond, London, GBJulian and his crew arrived at eight every morning without fail. They isolated the kitchen dust completely, and we settled the milestones via bank transfer only when each section passed inspection.
Helena W., St Albans, GBSolid timber flooring laid across the ground floor with zero squeaks even after seasonal temperature shifts. Any minor snagging note was corrected within three days of our walk-through.
